Ruby |
Ruby is the eighth main character of the manga series Pokémon Adventures. As a counterpart to Sapphire, Ruby has a great passion for Pokémon Contests. While he's an excellent battler, he only fights when necessary or when no one takes notice. He believes that Pokémon battles are barbaric, and get his Pokémon dirty—something that he hates. His first Pokémon were Skitty, Poochyena, and Ralts, all given by his father Norman; his "starter" Pokémon was a Mudkip which he received from Professor Birch. Ruby has admitted to having a crush on his rival Sapphire. |
((ooc:Big plot mistake on my end, going to edit my last entree and deleting the previous one, my bad ^^;))
Ruby dropped his gear when Crystal hung up with the fantastic news of himself getting a pokemon from her.
“How simply fantastic! Im going to goldenrod no sweat!!”
He said it with pure joy and rushed to his backpack. Whirling around his room he grabbed things for his journey..You know.. The necessities: Bathroom gear, clothes, his pokemon, sewing kit, and most importantly, the atlas. The only way he can navigate through Johto considering he cant remember any of it and only remember Goldenrod during his childhood.
With his gear all set, Powerful Running shoes equipped, he jumped downstairs and flew out the door in a flash. Only leaving a note for his mother telling where he is going and giving out his love and goodbyes.
At blasting speeds he sliced through the tall grass and made the dirt from the path fly behind him in a cloud of sand. His mind was set, to find the nearest pokemon center. That would be the town of Oldale. Seeing the little town and that grand Pokemon center made him smile wide. Entering the doors to the Pokemon center Ruby slammed the brakes for him self to stop. Brushing himself of dirt that crossed his clothes along the way and waited patiently in the lobby seats for the pidgeot to arrive.
“It sure is quiet when the center is open at so early in the morning.”
Thats right, Ruby forgotten that he hadn’t slept in the slightest due to his distraction of events he must get to. The sky itself was at a slight pink already. Suddenly he begun to slowly lay on his side. The comfiness of the seats lulled ruby to a relaxing snooze.
An answer? An Answer! Ruby plans was finally set into motion. Sudden yelps of joy were coming out of his mouth that was so humiliating to probably hear over a line. He kept his cool instantly and responded to Crystal,
“Crystal? I didn’t know you would answer! This is Ruby from the Hoenn Region. Do you remember me at all? Its been a long time and we barely even chatted but non the less i need you to help me out. I dont know if your busy or not but Im trying to get to goldenrod from here and I was wonderiiin if you have some available transport that you can possibly lend?”
Ruby, now biting the tip of his thumb, was getting more nervous for a response.
(( OOC: Going to be gone for the weekend, I will be leaving until mid-afternoon on friday so ill still be around until that time ))
Ruby placed his palm to his cheek tapping his finger to his forehead. How is he ever going to get to goldenrod from Hoenn? At first he had a good idea, using Sapphire’s tropius to fly there…But he remembered he has no idea where Sapphire is. No Sapphire, No tropius, no way to get there.
Smiling, another idea popped into his head. Instead of Sapphire’s Tropius he simply catches one! Although that would mean fighting it…barbarically. He rubs his forehead harsh to find the answers to his problem.
“C’mon Ruby think! If you cant get there from here…thats it! From the source!”
Of course! Someone from Johto can give him a ride to Goldenrod! Wait just a minute, who the heck does he know from Johto? Yet another fork in the road for his idea. Ruby sighed in defeat and placed his head on his desk.
“Like that would work, Besides my parents and a couple of childhood friends, I dont know anyone from my birthplace currently. That didn’t move here to Hoenn. uugh.”
His eyes looked around his room to take his mind off of the goldenrod trip. Then his eyes locked to his Pokedex. He remembered to himself that he is a pokedex holder. Besides Sapphire and Emerald, He remembered also that there are pokedex holders that are around the world and the majority are good friends with Ruby.
“The trainers at Johto! Those guys I became friends with at the battle frontier!”
His determination resurrected and was fueled by a solid idea this time. The names are Gold, Silver, and Crystal of johto. Ruby leaned his back to his desk chair and pondered. Gold, from his personality, was a bit of jerk. Ruby’s face turned into disgust from calling him. Then there was Silver the quiet red hed. He didn’t know much about him but the mere thought kinda gave him a chill up ruby’s spine. But Crystal, the blue haired cutie was the most definite choice. Plus her Pokemon are just as gorgeous as she, a trainer who knows what style truly means.
With haste he picks up his gear and looks at the contacts to find Crystal’s name, press the magic button and awaited for an answer. Shaking, Ruby was nervous that she might not answer, but only time will tell.
The moment when his mother called for him was the very same moment his concentration broke, causing ruby to jab his sewing needle right into the tip of his finger
“OW!”
He held his finger and grunted in pain, thankfully the pain ended quick. Ruby got up sucking his finger and went out his room downstairs. He could already taste his mother’s glorious food the scent was so strong. Not only that he didn’t eat all day due to his hobby of his so dinner was going to be most satisfying.
Ruby sat down and shoved down the food down his throat like a beast, a polite beast that is.
The hum of the television played in the background of their chewing with the occasional clink of silverware making contact with a plate offered itself as a soundtrack to their dinner. His mother was fairly quiet as she ate, glancing every once in a while towards the television to see what the Pokemon News Network had to say.
The break-in at the large Saffron City building was dully noted. It wasn`t exactly unfortunate. No one was able to restore the Silph Co. back to its former glory after that one hostile take-over by—what was their name? Team Missile? Or maybe something as ridiculous? Either way, it did not affect her family at all, so only a moment of fleeting interest passed by.
“Stay tuned for the upcoming “super“ pokeblock formula after the commercials.“
Pokeblock formula? That was certainly something her son would enjoy watching! But—what was this?
The screen switched from the pale blue of the news room to a honey gold background. Streaks of red rolled across and horizontally through the background, accompanied by a tune so startlingly lively that she almost dropped her fork right there. A flurry of text flew in and out of the commercial.
Compete, win, gain prizes! Come to the Pokeathlon Dome in Goldenrod City!
The message was simple enough.
“Oh dear, they opened a competition in Goldenrod City… And look at those prizes!“ she said, speaking for the first time since the meal had started. “Doesn`t that seem interesting, Ruby?“
Contests and Prizes. Those were the only two words he herd from the TV and his mother. His head rushed as he slowly placed his silverware back on the table. When his mind set on an idea, Ruby shot up from his seat, making the chair slide an exaggerated half way across the room and Rushed up stairs.
A few moments later noises from the floor above were herd. Bashing and crashing, clearly not natural for a sophisticated boy like himself to even dare think of doing. But his actions where blind with the thought of his greedy idea.
“Where..Where is it? I know there is an atlas of the world somewhere”
Finally after many objects scattered on the floor he finds the atlas and looks at the detail inside of it. Without further ado he slammed it on the ground, pretzel-style himself onto the ground as well, and plans outs his plan to get to goldenrod city.

The snip of a thread and its complete. Yet another fine piece of clothing from Ruby’s remarkable talents. A dashing and sleek red cape for his Mightyena, Nana. With a shine so bright it will sure dazzle the judges for any upcoming cool contest. He takes a heavy-hearted sigh on his work,
“Sometimes I amaze myself this is just so..Fabulous! Don’t you agree Nana?”
Ruby stroked Nana’s perfectly trimmed coat. Although it has been months since he has seen or herd from his friend sapphire, he didn’t care. Without anymore battling to worry about from organizations, wild pokemon, or trainers with no class, Ruby can finally focus what is really important in this world and thats contests.
Speaking of contests, he has been currently preparing him self and his pokemon for Contests held in the sinnoh region. To his dismay, he cant afford traveling to get there.
With that in mind, he grabbed is sewing kit, more fabrics, and started working with intensity, forgetting about his money dilemma and thinking he will get to the sinnoh contests with ease.
